Dining at The Old Markets is a celebration of relaxed elegance and local flavours. Guests are welcomed to savour fresh, seasonal ingredients inspired by the Aegean, from homemade pastries and local honey to thoughtfully prepared dishes that highlight the richness of Greek cuisine.
In the evening, the Agora Restaurant invites you to dine beneath the original stone arches of the old market hall, where candlelight and the warmth of the setting create an unforgettable atmosphere. The Aethera Terrace Bar complements the experience with carefully crafted cocktails, fine wines, and panoramic views of Symi’s harbour — a perfect spot to watch the island glow as night falls.
Weddings and Events
With its historic charm and romantic setting, The Old Markets is one of Symi’s most enchanting venues for intimate weddings and private celebrations. Ceremonies and receptions for up to forty guests can be hosted in the courtyard or on the Aethera Terrace, surrounded by candlelight and sea views. Our team works closely with each couple to create a truly personal event — from bespoke menus to flowers and music — ensuring every moment is as beautiful and meaningful as the setting itself.
Accommodation at The Old Markets
Each room and suite at The Old Markets, Symi tells its own unique story. The historic shopfronts of the original Agora (Old Markets) have been beautifully transformed into spacious, light-filled rooms, while the adjoining Captain’s Mansion hosts elegant suites with balconies overlooking Symi’s enchanting harbour.
Original architectural features, high ceilings, arched windows, hand-painted details and traditional moussandras, have been carefully preserved and complemented with modern comforts and refined style, creating a truly authentic luxury stay in Symi.
Aegean Suite
A stunning luxury suite accommodating up to 4 guests, covering approximately 70m². The Aegean Suite features a private courtyard entrance, balcony, and harbour views, offering generous space and privacy in an exceptional setting.
Alexandrian Room
A bright, character-filled room with a super king-size bed, offering open-plan living across two converted historic shops in Symi’s original marketplace. Ideal for guests seeking an authentic stay in the heart of the Old Agora.
Arabian Room
A charming room located within the Old Markets, offering either twin beds or a super king-size bed. The open-plan layout includes bedroom, dressing area, and discreetly screened shower and WC facilities, respecting the original architecture of the building.
Chondros Room
Named after the nearby island of Chondros, this elegant room is a peaceful sanctuary for couples. Located on the ground floor of the Captain’s Mansion, it features a separate dressing area, twin showers and basins, and views over a secluded courtyard garden, just steps from the pool house.
Nimos Room
Ideal for couples, the Nimos Room features a private balcony overlooking Symi’s picturesque harbour. High ceilings and a traditional moussandra enhance the sense of space and light, leading into luxurious en-suite facilities.
Ottoman Room
Compact yet full of character, the Ottoman Room was originally a baker’s store in the Old Markets. It has been transformed into a luxury en-suite Hammam-style retreat, perfect for short stays for couples or longer stays for the solo traveller.
Ouranos Suite
Situated at the top of the Captain’s Mansion, the Ouranos (Sky) Suite offers spectacular panoramic views over Symi’s harbour, sea, and sky. Sleeping up to 4 guests, the suite features two private balconies, a private entrance, and approximately 50m² of refined luxury living space.
Stroggilos Room
Named after the small island south of Symi, the Stroggilos Room offers modest yet elegant accommodation for a single guest or couple. Accessed via the courtyard garden of the Captain’s Mansion, it features a king-size bed, air-conditioning, en-suite facilities, and easy access to the pool house.
Symi Suite
The master suite of The Old Markets, inspired by the beauty of Symi and the crystal-blue Aegean Sea. Greek art and island elegance define the space, featuring a fully restored traditional moussandra and a beautifully painted ceiling, typical of historic Sea Captains’ mansions.
The suite opens onto a spacious terrace, ideal for al fresco living and dining. Five large picture windows frame uninterrupted views of Symi’s picturesque port and the surrounding sea.
Venetian Room
The Venetian Room pays homage to Symi’s historic trading ties with Venice. Located within the Old Agora building, the room offers cool, open-plan living, furnished with period Italian artefacts and antique paintings depicting historic views of Venice.
Guests can also enjoy access to the terrace bar, courtyard garden, and pool area — tranquil spaces designed for relaxation and quiet moments.
