Designed for travellers seeking the authentic spirit of an ancient town in a peaceful and tranquil setting, this intimate and exclusive waterfront hotel features eight carefully designed rooms, ranging from beautifully appointed doubles to a spacious family room for four. Accommodation at Alcanea also includes a private suite just a few steps away and two apartments in the heart of Chania’s historic centre.

The Building

The building that now forms Alcanea dates from the Venetian period and was the office of the Greek revolutionary and statesman, Eleftherios Venizelos, for 24 years.

It was fully restored in spring 2011 with great sensitivity to the preservation and conservation of its architectural heritage.

The enchanting complex of terraces and patios, the well-preserved hand-carved stone façades, colourful ceramics, elaborate woodwork and decorative elements maintain a perfect balance between tradition and modern comforts.

Kindly note that Alcanea is conveniently situated in the historic port of Chania. This particular area is exclusively for pedestrians, ensuring a car-free environment. While our hotel does not provide private parking facilities, there is a spacious municipal parking area at Talos Square, located directly behind the hotel. Once you have safely parked your vehicle, you can access the Old City by walking through Theotokopoulou Street. As you proceed, you will find Alcanea on the third alley to your left, a brief walk of no more than 5 minutes.

Superior Double with Terrace (1st Floor) – Room I

A spacious 39 sq m room with a king-size bed, vanity boudoir, seating area that can accommodate up to two additional guests upon request in single beds, and a bathroom with shower.

Standard Double with View – Room II

This 17 sq m room features a queen-size bed, dressing table, built-in wardrobe and bathroom with shower.

Double Room for Single Use – Room III

This 12 sq m room features a queen-size bed, built-in wardrobe and bathroom with shower. It is also available for double use at an additional charge.

Superior Double – Room IV

This 33 sq m room features a king-size bed, spacious bathroom with shower and can accommodate up to three guests with an extra bed upon request.

Standard Double – Room V

This 15 sq m room can accommodate up to two guests and features a queen-size bed, built-in wardrobe and bathroom with shower.

Superior Double with Balcony – Room VI

This 29 sq m room features a king-size bed, dressing table, lounge area and bathroom with shower.

Superior Double with Terrace (2nd Floor) – Room VII

This 24 sq m room features a private terrace where you can relax and enjoy spectacular views, as well as a king-size bed, dressing table, lounge area and bathroom with shower.

Superior Double with Sea View – Room VIII

This exceptional 53 sq m room features a king-size bed, dressing table, lounge area and a splendid bathroom with a spacious shower and double washbasin.

Alcanea Private Suite

Just a few steps from Alcanea Boutique Hotel, the 70 sq m Private Suite combines modern comfort with the character of a historic Venetian house.

Located in the old Venetian quarter of Chania, the suite features original stone, wood, glass and natural granite, creating a warm and peaceful retreat close to the heart of the Old Town.

Alcanea Apartment – 35 sq m

Located at Tsouderon 24, approximately 10 minutes on foot from Alcanea Boutique Hotel, this comfortable apartment is just 5 minutes from the Venetian Harbour.

It features a double bedroom, living room, dining area and balcony overlooking the pedestrianised market district of Chania.

Alcanea Superior Apartment – 55 sq m

Also located at Tsouderon 24, this spacious apartment is approximately 10 minutes on foot from Alcanea Boutique Hotel and just 5 minutes from the Venetian Harbour.

It features a double bedroom, living room, dining area, balcony and a private 45 sq m roof garden with views of Chania’s Old Town.

Please note: The Alcanea Apartments are located at Tsouderon 24, in a separate location approximately 10 minutes on foot from Alcanea Boutique Hotel. Check-in is contactless via a secure key locker. Guests staying in the apartments can enjoy breakfast at Alcanea Café.
